County Criminal Record Search
Reports criminal records (felonies and/or misdemeanors) from individual county courts, multiple-county metro areas, in the selected jurisdiction. This is usually the best search source, as any county will have records of all the convictions in that county.

Statewide Criminal Search
Most states can have their Department of Corrections records searched to find if a subject has been in DOC custody, including incarceration or state supervised probation. This search is useful in finding records of those subjects that lived in one county, but were convicted of a crime in another county. In some states, counties submit criminal data to a state repository.
